March 31st, Québec: Thousands against Fees attacked by Riot Police

Montreal - Thousands vs Tuition Fees, 3 Arrests

According to different sources between 2,000 and 7,000 people took to the streets of Montreal (Quebec, Canada) to resist an increase in tuition fees and fight for free education. The demonstration was called by L’Association pour une Solidarité Syndicale Étudiante (ASSÉ).

Also at Concordia University activists mobilised for the right to food and education:

The rally was accompanied by a massive contingent of riot police - at least three activists were arrested.

30 to 40 students temporarily occupied the CRÉPUQ office (Conférences des recteurs et principaux des universités du Québec - the rectors and principals councils) who are in favour of tution hikes. Activists left the building again an hour later.
